Website

Waldorf Music is a German synthesizer maker based in Remagen. Its history goes back to 1989, when it launched the Microwave, a wavetable synthesizer that revived the spirit of the PPG Wave series. The current Waldorf Music GmbH was founded in 2006 as a new company after the original Waldorf Music AG went insolvent in 2004.

Instruments

  • Hardware: the flagship Quantum, the Iridium family (including the Iridium MK2 and Iridium Core), the Protein wavetable synthesizer and the Attack 3 percussion synthesizer.
  • Classics: the Wave, the Q series and the Blofeld are regarded as modern classics by the company.
  • Software: desktop plug-ins such as Nave, Blofeld and Microwave 1 as well as iPad apps carry the wavetable legacy into the computer.

Focus

Waldorf is mainly known for wavetable synthesis and describes its instruments as a mix of characterful sound design and German engineering. The company has been led by CEO Rolf Wöhrmann in recent years.
