The Open Source category highlights projects that, while originally developed in countries outside of Europe, allow anyone from around the world to contribute. These projects are not bound by geographic location—anyone, regardless of where they are based, can review, modify, and improve the code. The key factor is that the source code is available for anyone to examine, ensuring that the product can be independently verified and trusted, regardless of its origin. By featuring open-source projects, we promote transparency, collaboration, and innovation on a global scale.

Submit SuggestionOkta is a US provider of cloud identity and access management: single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and user lifecycle management for employees, plus customer login through Auth0. Okta bought Auth0 for about 6.5 billion US dollars in stock, and the deal closed on 3 May 2021. Today Auth0 products and Okta's workforce products are sold side by side. People look for an Okta alternative for several reasons: cost per user, dependence on one vendor for all logins, the US jurisdiction over identity data, or the wish to run the software themselves.
The open-source options save licence fees but need operating skills, and none of them copies Okta's integration catalogue one to one, so the applications in use should be checked for standard protocol support first. Commercial European services take over operation but differ in size and in how openly they publish prices. The full comparison is on IAM and single sign-on solutions.
