Perfumeries and beauty retailers sell brands from many manufacturers under one roof, in stores and online. This page lists chains with their headquarters in Europe. They range from the German market leader Douglas to the French chain Sephora and the Czech online retailer Notino. If you look for the brands themselves, the page on fragrances lists perfume makers from Europe.

How the chains differ

Douglas and Sephora are the classic store-based selective retailers, with a large online business on top. Notino and flaconi grew as online retailers, and Notino now also opens stores in Central and Eastern Europe. Marionnaud is a mid-sized store chain in several countries.

Ownership notes

Marionnaud belongs to A.S. Watson, the retail arm of CK Hutchison in Hong Kong, and is flagged for that reason. Douglas is listed, with the European investor CVC and the Kreke family holding about two thirds. LVMH, the owner of Sephora, is a French listed group. flaconi belongs to ProSiebenSat.1, which is controlled by the Italian group MFE, but a sale has been discussed.

What is missing

Some well-known names are not on this page. The US chain Ulta Beauty has no stores in Europe, and Rituals is a brand rather than a retailer and is listed as a brand elsewhere. Drugstores that sell cosmetics, such as dm or Rossmann, appear under drugstores.
