AGV
WebsiteAGV is an Italian motorcycle helmet brand. Gino Amisano founded it in 1947 in Valenza in Piedmont, and the name comes from the initials of his name and town, Amisano Gino Valenza. The company made its first fibreglass crash helmet in 1954. Since July 2007 AGV has belonged to the Dainese Group, which is headquartered in the Vicenza area.
Features
AGV helmets are developed with racing riders. Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi wore AGV throughout their careers, and the brand also supplied Formula 1 champions in the 1970s and 1980s, among them Emerson Fittipaldi, Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. Current racing models such as the Pista GP RR are sold as full-face helmets approved to ECE 22.06. Besides the racing models, the range includes helmets for road riding.
Ownership
AGV is a brand of Dainese S.p.A. On 28 January 2026 HPS Investment Partners, part of BlackRock (USA), and Arcmont Asset Management, an affiliate of Nuveen, the asset manager of TIAA (USA), closed the acquisition of 100 percent of Dainese. Because the parent is owned by US-based investors, AGV carries the notice about a non-European parent.
