Alpro

Website

Alpro is a Belgian maker of plant-based drinks, yoghurt alternatives and desserts with its head office in Ghent. Danone calls it a trailblazer in plant-based food in Europe that has championed positive food choices for more than four decades. Its products are sold under the brands Alpro and Provamel, and it started with soy before it added drinks from almonds, hazelnuts, rice, oats and coconut.

Range

  • Plant-based drinks from soy, oats, almonds, hazelnuts, rice and coconut
  • Plant-based yoghurt alternatives and desserts under the same brand
  • Production sites in Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, as stated at the 2017 takeover

Ownership

Danone completed its acquisition of the US company WhiteWave, including Alpro, in April 2017, and Alpro became part of Danone's plant-based business unit. Danone is headquartered in Paris, and Alpro has its head office in Belgium, so no non-European parent flag applies. The sister brand Provamel is not listed separately.
