Ernsting's family

Ernsting's family is a German textile retailer with its head office in Coesfeld in Westphalia. It started with the first "minipreis" test store in the washroom of the parents' textile house in Coesfeld. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 and today offers fashion and accessories for the whole family.

Where to find it

The company reports more than 2,000 stores in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands and more than 13,000 employees (company website, 2026). Its 1,000th store opened in 2003, and the 1,500th in 2010, the same year as the first store in Austria. The stores sit mostly in town centres, supply centres and retail parks.

Ownership

The group is run as EHG GmbH & Co. KG with the subsidiaries Ernsting's family GmbH & Co. KG, Ernsting's media, and companies for the Netherlands and Austria. It is a privately held German company without a known non-European parent.
