KORRES
WebsiteKORRES is a Greek natural cosmetics company. It grew out of the oldest homeopathic pharmacy in Athens, where the pharmacist Giorgos Korres started working in the late 1980s, and the company was founded in 1996. Its first product was not a face cream but a herbal sore-throat syrup with honey and aniseed. Giorgos Korres and the chemical engineer Lena Filipou Korres still lead the brand. The registered office is in the Athens area, production is in Oinofyta, and products are sold in more than 50 countries.
Range and approach
Skincare is the core of the range, with lines built around Greek ingredients such as Greek yoghurt, Santorini grape, black pine, olive oil and saffron, plus mineral sunscreens. The brand also sells body cleansers and eau de toilette. KORRES says it mapped the Greek endemic flora with the Agricultural University of Athens and buys raw materials from farmers and cooperatives, for example saffron from Kozani and grapes from Santorini.
Ownership
KORRES left the Athens Stock Exchange in 2018. Since the 2017 deal a Morgan Stanley private equity fund (56 percent of the holding company Nissos) and the Chinese distributor Profex (14 percent) hold 70 percent, the Korres side 30 percent. In September 2026 the Greek investor Halcyon Equity Partners and Herbarium Holding, the vehicle of Giorgos Korres, agreed to take joint control. The Hellenic Competition Commission was notified on 15 September 2026 and still has to approve the deal.
