Mileștii Mici
WebsiteMileștii Mici is a Moldovan winery in the village of Mileștii Mici in the Ialoveni district, about 20 km from Chișinău. The state enterprise was founded in 1969 in former limestone mines, whose galleries now serve as wine cellars. Guinness World Records recognised its collection in 2005 as the largest wine collection in the world.
The cellars
- About 200 km of underground galleries
- A Golden Collection of roughly 1.5 million bottles, stored at 12 to 14 degrees Celsius and high humidity
- Dry red blends such as Negru de Mileștii Mici
The estate sells wines and offers tours of the cellars, which is why it is a well known destination for visitors to Moldova.
Visiting and conditions
The galleries offer stable conditions with 85 to 95 percent relative humidity, which suits long ageing. Huge oak barrels were installed in the 1970s. The cellars lie 80 metres underground, and the address is Mileștii Mici, Ialoveni district, MD-6819, Republic of Moldova.
