sevdesk is a German cloud accounting program from Offenburg, founded in 2013 for freelancers and small businesses. It states that more than 160,000 companies use it. In 2025 the French software group Cegid announced the acquisition of sevdesk, and sevdesk now presents itself as part of Cegid. Cegid is majority-owned by the US investor Silver Lake.

  • Unlimited invoices and quotes, e-invoices (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung) and payment reminders.
  • Receipt capture with AI support and a bank connection to more than 4,000 banks, with automatic assignment of payments.
  • VAT advance returns sent through ELSTER, income statement (EÜR), business evaluation (BWA) and a REST API.
  • DATEV and ADDISON export for the tax adviser.

Plans and limits

There are three paid plans, called Invoice, Accounting and Accounting Pro. sevdesk is built for German tax rules and aims at freelancers and small companies rather than at larger accounting departments.
