Submit SuggestionAliExpress is a marketplace of the Chinese Alibaba Group, launched in 2010. It acts as a platform only: the products come from third-party sellers, most of them in China, and are shipped to buyers worldwide. Searches such as "AliExpress alternative" and "AliExpress alternative Europe" show that many shoppers look for options closer to home.
The platforms below are headquartered in Europe and cover a similar breadth of everyday goods: Allegro in Poland, Cdiscount in France, eMAG in Romania, Kaufland Marketplace in Germany, bol in the Netherlands and Belgium, ManoMano for DIY, and the retailers Otto and Galaxus. Sellers on these marketplaces are often located in the EU, which usually means shorter delivery times and no customs handling for the buyer.
Prices of very cheap imported goods are often lower on AliExpress, and no European platform matches its niche range from Chinese manufacturers. In return, European platforms apply EU consumer rules such as the 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases from traders. Each platform is strongest in its home country. eMAG is marked as having a non-European parent.
