In the EU, motorcycle clothing counts as personal protective equipment of category II under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The standard EN 17092 covers jackets, trousers and suits and sorts them into classes, with AAA as the highest level of protection. A tag showing the class, CE-marked protectors in shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, and a fit that keeps the protectors in place matter more than the brand name. Track suits, touring clothing and summer mesh jackets serve different uses, so check the class against how you ride.
Dainese is an Italian company, but since January 2026 it belongs to the investment firms HPS (part of BlackRock) and Arcmont (affiliated with Nuveen), both with US parent groups, which is why it is marked as having a non-European parent. Dainese also owns the helmet brand AGV, which is listed in the motorcycle helmet category.
Brands from the USA and Asia are not listed. Further European makers, among them companies from Finland and Germany, can be added once their headquarters and ownership have been checked. Helmets have their own page: see Motorcycle Helmet Brands.
