Website

Bohemia Interactive is a Czech game developer and publisher headquartered in Prague. It was founded in May 1999 by Marek Španěl, Ondřej Španěl and Slavomír Pavlíček and remains a privately held company. It is best known for military simulation games: Operation Flashpoint, the Arma series and the survival game DayZ, which began as a mod for Arma 2. In 2025 it had more than 500 employees.

Features

  • Realistic open-world military simulation with large maps and vehicle combat in the Arma series.
  • DayZ, a multiplayer survival game that grew out of a modification.
  • Its own Enfusion engine and strong support for community mods through the Steam Workshop and its own tools.
  • Studios in the Czech Republic and other European countries.

Ownership and limits

Tencent acquired a minority stake in February 2021, while the founders remain the main owners. The company's games are niche products with a dedicated player base rather than mass-market titles.
