Centreon

Website

Centreon is a French provider of IT monitoring and observability software, headquartered in Paris. The open-source project dates back to 2003, and its monitoring engine started as a fork of Nagios. The company grew without outside capital until November 2025, when the US investment firm Sixth Street invested; according to Centreon, the founders and management keep strategic and operational control.

Features

  • One platform for IT infrastructure monitoring, log management and digital experience monitoring
  • Open-source community of more than 250,000 users, around 1,300 customers in over 60 countries and 160 employees, according to the company in November 2025
  • Used by companies, public-sector organisations and managed service providers, with about 80 partners

Good to know

Centreon describes itself as a European alternative for sovereign IT observability. The open-source core can be run on one's own servers, and the commercial offers add enterprise functions and support. Which functions sit in which edition changes over time, so the current feature comparison on the website is the reference.
