Delta Cafés is a Portuguese coffee brand founded by Rui Nabeiro in Campo Maior in 1961. It began in a small warehouse with three employees and is now part of Grupo Nabeiro. The coffee business is operated by NOVADELTA, whose production unit is in Campo Maior.

A coffee business from Campo Maior

Delta started by roasting and selling coffee locally, then expanded its roasting and distribution operations as demand grew. In 1994, it reached the leading position in the Portuguese coffee market. The company’s story also led to a Coffee Museum and later the Coffee Science Centre in Campo Maior.

Beans, ground coffee and more

The current product catalog includes roasted beans, ground coffee, coffee pads and soluble coffee. It lists origin coffees, named blends, decaffeinated options and soluble drinks such as barley or chicory coffee. The broader group also develops Delta Q as a capsule coffee brand, launched in 2007.

From origin to cup

Delta describes its coffee cycle through origin selection, roasting, blending and preparation. Its official pages explain how Arabica and Robusta beans contribute different body, acidity and aroma to blends. Product pages provide preparation guidance for espresso and other coffee drinks.

Portuguese roots and wider distribution

The company presents Delta as a family business with a network of international partners and customers. The brand’s product range serves home use as well as cafés, with formats for espresso machines and other methods. NOVADELTA and the Coffee Science Centre connect coffee production, research and public education in Portugal.
