It launched in 2009 as eBay Kleinanzeigen and was renamed Kleinanzeigen in May 2023 after eBay had sold its classifieds business to Adevinta. Company information from 2023 mentions more than 36 million users per month and more than 50 million ads.
Features
- Private and commercial ads for second-hand goods, furniture, electronics, vehicle parts, services, jobs and flats.
- Optional payment and shipping functions for private sales, plus local pick-up.
- Free basic listings for private users, paid extras for visibility and commercial sellers.
Ownership and limits
Kleinanzeigen belongs to Adevinta since 2021. Adevinta belongs to the Aurelia group. According to the UK company register (Companies House, October 2025) and the 2026 reports of eBay and Vend Marketplaces, funds advised by Permira (London) hold about 37 percent, Blackstone about 29 percent, General Atlantic about 8 percent and TCV about 4 percent, while Vend Marketplaces (Oslo) holds 14 percent and eBay about 8 percent. Owners based in Europe thus hold slightly more than half. Scams are a known issue on all open classifieds sites, so personal pick-up and protected payment are recommended for larger purchases.
