Perrier
WebsitePerrier is a naturally carbonated mineral water from Vergèze in the south of France. A decree in 1863 allowed taking the waters at the Les Bouillens spring, Doctor Louis-Eugène Perrier began bottling there in 1898, and in 1906 the British businessman St. John Harmsworth named the company and the water after him. The green bottle shape was inspired by a wooden Indian club that Harmsworth used for exercise.
Range
- Perrier Original in the green glass bottle, with fine bubbles and no sugar
- Flavoured versions such as lemon, lime and pink grapefruit
- Maison Perrier, a range of flavoured sparkling drinks launched in 2024 that is sold in 80 countries
Ownership
Nestlé bought Source Perrier SA in 1992. On 23 July 2026 Nestlé and Platinum Equity of the USA announced a 50/50 joint venture named Peranel for the waters business, headquartered in Paris, with closing expected by the first half of 2027. Because Platinum Equity would hold exactly half, no non-European parent flag is set for now.
