Submit SuggestionNatural mineral water in the European Union has to come from a recognised underground source and be bottled at the source, so every brand is tied to a place. This page lists 11 mineral water brands with a European headquarters, from the Eifel (Gerolsteiner) and the Auvergne (Volvic) to the Ochil Hills in Scotland (Highland Spring). The seat of the company counts, and the spring alone is not enough.
Ownership is split between a few groups. evian and Volvic belong to Danone in Paris. Nestlé owns Perrier, Vittel and S.Pellegrino. In July 2026 Nestlé announced a 50/50 joint venture named Peranel with the US firm Platinum Equity for its waters business, headquartered in Paris, with closing expected by the first half of 2027. Exactly half is not a majority, so no non-European flag is set today, but the structure is worth watching. The rest are family-owned or independent: Gerolsteiner, Spa (a Belgian family group listed in Brussels), San Benedetto (Zoppas family), Vöslauer (Ottakringer Group), Mattoni (Pasquale family) and Highland Spring.

Water is a local business, and many regional springs are not listed because this page only covers brands with a national or international reach. Nestlé alone sells further waters under local names, such as Buxton, Contrex, Henniez and Hépar, which are not shown separately. Only the brands above have been checked for headquarters and ownership.
