Galbani

Website

Galbani is one of Italy's best-known dairy brands. Egidio Galbani founded the first dairy in 1882 in Ballabio in the Valsassina, where he made robiola. A large dairy in Melzo later became the heart of the company, and its head office opened in Milan in 1960. Galbani launched Santa Lucia, the first industrially made mozzarella, and its slogan "Galbani vuol dire fiducia" became one of the best-known in Italian advertising.

Products

  • Mozzarella, including Santa Lucia
  • Table cheeses such as Galbanino, Certosa and Bel Paese
  • Mascarpone, Gorgonzola and Dolcelatte
  • Cured meats such as prosciutto cotto, salami and mortadella

Ownership

Galbani passed through several owners: the Danone group, then the investment fund BC Partners, and finally the French family group Lactalis. It is now part of Lactalis Italia, the holding that also manages Invernizzi, Locatelli and Président in Italy. The brand stays Italian, but its parent is the same group that owns Président, which this category already lists.
