European food delivery apps bring restaurant meals, groceries and everyday goods from local businesses to the door. They are the European options next to the American Uber Eats. Most of the well-known apps were founded in Europe, but several now belong to groups from outside Europe, so the table below shows who owns what.

Who is still independent?

Only Bolt Food, part of the ride-hailing company Bolt, has no large outside owner. Just Eat Takeaway.com and Lieferando went to Prosus in 2025, and Wolt and Deliveroo to DoorDash. On 16 July 2026 Delivery Hero, the owner of Glovo and foodora, announced a takeover offer by Uber at 41.50 euros per share. Completion is expected in the second half of 2027, and parts of the business are meant to go to the New York investment firm SSW Partners. Until closing both brands are listed without a notice.

Choosing an app

Availability decides: the apps differ from street to street, so the address check in each app is the first test. Delivery fees, service fees and minimum order values are set per market and change often, so they are not compared here. Anyone who wants the fees to reach the restaurant can often order directly from the restaurant's own website or phone line.

What Europe does not have

There is no large independent pan-European delivery platform. The independent apps are national or regional, and the larger ones are owned from abroad or about to be.
