Ditsch

Website

Ditsch is a German pretzel bakery chain. Master baker Wilhelm Ditsch founded it in Mainz in 1919, near the railway station, and his son Heinz Ditsch developed it further. Ditsch sells its pretzels under the name Brezelkönig in Switzerland. The brand belongs to Valora Food Service Deutschland GmbH in Essen, a company of the Swiss Valora group, which acquired Ditsch and Brezelkönig in 2012.

Range

Ditsch sells freshly baked lye pretzels, pizza snacks and other savoury baked goods. Examples from the company are the Schlemmerzunge, the pizza with spinach and mushrooms, and pretzel rolls. The shops mark vegetarian products with a clear label, according to Ditsch. Ditsch also supplies business customers.

Where to find it

According to Ditsch's website, there are more than 170 shops in Germany and Austria, with a focus on high-footfall locations.

Ownership

Valora is owned by the Mexican group FEMSA, which completed its acquisition on 7 October 2022 and held 97.77 percent of Valora's shares afterwards. Because the owner is based in Mexico, Ditsch is marked as having a non-European parent.
